McWong’s TruBlu™ Bluetooth-DALI Controller Shortlisted for 2020 Sapphire Awards

Sacramento, Calif. January 8, 2020—McWong International, a leading innovator in Bluetooth® mesh technology, was shortlisted as a finalist for the 2020 Sapphire Awards competition, as announced by LEDs Magazine yesterday. The company’s TruBlu Bluetooth-DALI Controller earned this recognition in the Smart and Connected SSL Enabling Technologies category.

The TruBlu™ Bluetooth- DALI Wireless Fixture Controller offers an unmatched range of control flexibility for indoor or outdoor lighting. It enables pairing of Bluetooth connectivity with DALI networks, resulting in the robustness of DALI control capabilities with the ease and accessibility of smartphone app control. Feature-rich, the module offers ON/OFF, dimming and color tuning control as well as an integrated photocell. It also enables asset management and tracking via the Bluetooth beacon and provides real- time energy reporting. Furthermore, the device provides wireless access to DALI 2.0 LED driver data, including the ability to track luminaire data, hours of operation and thermal conditions during operation.

Blane Goettle, McWong Vice President, notes, “this controller enables customers to ‘future-proof’ their lighting, since it’s updatable over-the-air via Bluetooth connectivity. For instance, next-generation LED drivers may include new features, such as password protection or other capabilities. Likewise, future iterations of the DALI interface may well incorporate vital new capabilities. We’re excited to add this important functionality to our Bluetooth mesh platform and honored to receive this recognition.”

Compatible with the industry- standard Zhaga receptacle, the device also features an IP65 rating so it can be used in the widest range of applications, whether indoors or out.

The Bluetooth-SIG qualified controller offers the widest range of protocol compatibility and mechanical interoperability available in the marketplace today.

The annual LEDs Magazine Sapphire Awards program, currently in its sixth year, focuses on the LED-based solid-state lighting (SSL) market from an enabling-technology and elegance-of-design perspective to recognize true technology stars. The judging process, handled by independent industry experts, culminates in an Awards Gala held at Strategies in Light, February 11-13, 2020 in San Diego.
